How we started

WAG Worm Farm is run by Will and Gabby Irons, a husband-and-wife team who turned a simple experiment into a full-fledged soil amendment business. It all started when Will balked at the price of bait worms at a store and decided to try breeding his own. That small idea quickly grew into a fascination with what worms could actually do for soil. Within weeks, the mud room was lined with breeding bins and the garage had turned into a worm casting factory. Six months later, they were selling at local markets and moving over a ton of castings.

The name WAG stands for Will and Gabby, but it also honors our three dogs Leah (front left), Buck (back), and Blue (front right), the original mascots whose wagging tails inspired both the name and the logo. From those humble beginnings, WAG Worm Farm became a family operation focused on creating healthy, living soil products for gardeners, growers, and landscapers across Ohio. Everything they produce, from worm castings to tea, is made from clean, organic materials and tested right in their own gardens.

WAG isn’t just about selling fertilizer; it’s about building a community around soil health and sustainability. What began as curiosity became a family mission to make biology-driven soil care accessible, local, and reliable.
